An International Exhibition
Encouraging Tolerance and Promoting Compassionate Community.

If the Fabric of Society were an actual textile, it might well resemble seven amazing cloths, woven with threads gathered from people of all faiths and ideologies in seventy countries and seven continents. The cloths suggest: I am but a thread in the tapestry of the whole. For five years, founder Terry Helwig enlisted weavers and textile artists to set up forty-nine looms world-wide to weave some of the most diverse cloth ever woven. The threads were pulled from the fabric of people’s everyday lives, from clothing and blankets to fishing rods and guitars. Some threads reflect tragic events such as those gathered on the Killing Fields of Cambodia and from 9/11 families; other threads celebrate milestones like birth and marriage. The resulting textiles create a visual art experience sure to stir the soul!

Just as the seven continents create one world, and the seven colors of the color spectrum create one light, these seven cloths create one World Cloth. The cloths, which took nearly five years to complete, are now being exhibited to remind people that we are ultimately a global family of one, united by a common thread!
