Dawn Looming Orange Cloth

~~JoAnne Cook  -
From the moment I heard about The Thread Project, I longed to be a part of it. I am a weaver and spinner who loves sharing my craft with others. Over the past 34 years I have woven everything from bookmarks to room-sized rugs. Weaving this panel is my favorite project to date because it encompasses many things I value:

-- The discovery of beauty and meaning in everyday things

-- Scrounging, recycling, and 'making do' with what is at hand

-- Spontaneous artistic expression, not limited to artists per se

-- Group participation on a grand scale

-- Art that is accessible to everyone, at every stage: from concept, to completion, to exhibition

-- Art that is free--in all senses of the word (which, incidentally, is why I chose to weave in shredded money)

-- The astonishing impact of juxtaposition, both planned and serendipitous

It was an honor to be a part of this endeavor.
