Debut of One-Act Play about The Thread Project

The Thread Narratives: Real Threads and True Stories made its debut at the International Exhibit of The Thread Project: One World, One Cloth at City Gallery at Waterfront Park in Charleston, SC. The one-act play, written by Terry Helwig and Carol Anderson, tells how a single thread evolved into an international project; the play also brings to life 74 of the thousands of letters sent to the project over the course of five years. Founder Terry Helwig Speaks at 9/11 Remembrance Service Near Ground Zero

The cloths of The Thread Project hung at St. Paul’s Chapel, across from Ground Zero, from September 1 -- November 30, 2006. It is estimated that over 400,000 people were able to view the cloths. Terry Helwig spoke at the Remembrance Service marking the 5-year anniversary of 9/11; excerpts of her talk and video of the cloths can be downloaded at The Trinity website Video Library episode 9/11/06 5th Anniversary: Moving Forward with Healing. In it’s entirely, the video gives a history and overview of 9/11. Terry’s portion begins at 7:36 minutes into the video. Another video about the Project, at the same link, is the September 8, 2006 episode called Threads Project. This video incorporates footage of the cloths hanging at St. Paul’s Chapel, combined with footage from the New Morning video that aired on the Hallmark Channel in 2004.

Panel Presented to Ambassador of Lesotho

One panel of Sophia’s Mantle, woven by several weaving cooperatives in Lesotho, Africa, was presented to the Ambassador of Lesotho before being sent to the United States. The Lesotho panel has hung in the United Nations as part of an Indigenous Exhibit and was a part of the exhibit at St. Paul’s Chapel for the 5th anniversary of 9/11/06.
